Natalie Kimball is a one-of-a-kind health and fitness specialist located in the heart of Virginia Beach.
INTERVIEW WITH OXYGEN MAGAZINE:
For Natalie Kimball, a predilection for weight training that bloomed when she was 15 — in high school, she was benching 95 pounds at a bodyweight of 103 — turned into a full-on career. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Central Washington University, a diagnostic health and fitness specialization from Pierce College in Puyallup, Washington, and certifications through ACE and NASM, she relocated cross-country to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 2015 to launch her own personal training business, focused on female clients, out of her garage and online.
In 2018, Kimball expanded by leasing a commercial space, and now offers small-group strength training classes on top of her individual sessions. “There were nights were filled tears and questions if I was ever going to make it,” the 28-year-old recalls. “I knew one person in Virginia Beach when I moved, and ended up creating a business from the ground up.”
During her lunch-hour workouts, Kimball follows an upper/lower-body split, with extra focus on posterior-chain exercises, while switching between heavy movements and higher-rep functional exercises. “I use my off days for rest, foam rolling and mobility work,” she says. “And when I travel, I’ll work out on the beach, at apartment gyms or at the park. I try to carry some bands with me when on the road.”
A self-professed avocado fanatic — “I could eat them with just about anything,” she says — Kimball preps veggies and protein midweek and again over the weekend. “Almost every morning, I have egg whites, avocado and kale,” she says. “I love giant salads with a protein and avocado. My meal prep normally consists of making large dishes in the crockpot, or doing healthy twists on traditional meals such as stuffed peppers, white chicken chili, and stir fry, and eat those throughout the week.”
HOW SHE FOUND HER PASSION
Her passion for her career comes from helping clients avoid mistakes. She has become fitness specialist and coach through years of practice, education and trial and error. After years of experimentation in and out of the classroom she instilled change by passing on the knowledge and passion to others. Her goal is to create the quickest route to success for her clients so they can surpass the struggles they would face if they were on their own. She wants her clients to have success and to achieve the body and mindset they’ve longed for.

"I’m just like every other girl, I'm from a small historic town in Washington State with a population of 6,000 people. My story becomes different from most when I started to face depression and anxiety. I became passionate about weight lifting from a very young age and ran with it ever since. I found myself getting stronger physically and most important, mentally. I’ve down countless hours of coaching and education and haven’t had the easiest route. I’ve lived out of my friends loft with no bedroom door with her 4 kids, started my own business out of my garage knowing one person and moved 3,000 miles to continue my passion. I have faced failure time and time again but every time I learn something that holds so much value.
My mission to help women drives me every single day. I know now that is something I can’t do alone and that's why I build the NKFITSQUAD. It’s about bringing women up, its about building women other women up so the struggle to be your best self isn’t so lonely. Transformation, even though you are growing and thriving can be one of the loneliest It’s about something so much bigger than me. I want every woman to feel good in her own skin. I want everyone woman to take charge of her life and demand change. We have the power to focus on what we can control and we can become so incredible great, together. I am so incredibly far from perfect but I am so insanely passionate and so is my squad. I am coach but am not afraid to change, to grow and learn and we would love to have you apart of our team."
